What we can prove, and what we cannot yet.
Most pet food brands publish the parts that flatter them. This page publishes the whole picture — the figures we stand behind, and the evidence we do not have yet. If you are a veterinarian, a retailer, or simply someone who reads labels properly, start here.
Evidence status at a glance
Veterinarians and retailers assessing a pet food company generally want to know what is documented and what is asserted. This is our honest position on both.

Nutritional adequacy
Loyal Saints Beef, Chicken, and Turkey + Salmon formulas are formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles for All Life Stages.
That sentence is a formulation standard, and it is worth being precise about what it does and does not mean, because the pet food aisle is not.
- It means the recipe is built to hit a published set of nutrient minimums and maximums for dogs at any life stage, including growth.
- It does not mean AAFCO approved this food. AAFCO does not regulate, approve, certify, endorse or test any pet food. Any brand — ours included — that tells you otherwise is describing something that does not exist.
- It is a floor, not a grade. Supermarket kibble meets the same profiles. Adequacy is table stakes; it is not the reason to choose us, and we will not sell it to you as one.
- There are two routes to the claim — formulation to the profile, or a feeding trial conducted to AAFCO protocols. Ours is the formulation route.
Guaranteed analysis and calorie content
These are label guarantees — minimums and maximums we commit to. They are not a laboratory typical analysis of finished product, which is a different document and one we do not yet publish. See the evidence status above.

The same figures appear on every product page and on the bag. If you ever find a number here that disagrees with one there, that is a defect — tell us and we will correct it.
Raw, freeze-dried, and what that means for safety
Freeze-drying removes water. It does not sterilise food. That single sentence should shape how you handle any freeze-dried raw product, ours included, and we would rather say it plainly than let the word "freeze-dried" imply a safety guarantee it does not carry.
- Wash your hands after handling it, as you would with any raw-origin food.
- Wash the bowl and any scoop between meals.
- Store the bag sealed, cool and dry. No refrigeration needed — the water is already gone.
- If someone in the household is immunocompromised, pregnant, elderly or very young, talk to your veterinarian about whether a raw-origin diet is appropriate for your home.
We are not publishing a pathogen-control specification on this page, because publishing one we have not documented in full would be worse than publishing none. Building that documentation is on our roadmap, and this section will be updated with the specifics when it is complete.
Who makes the food, and who formulates it
Loyal Saints is a woman-owned brand based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, founded by Kristina Voltin. Our food is made in the USA.
Formulation. Our formulas were developed to meet the AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles for All Life Stages, working with our manufacturing partner's formulation team.
Independent veterinary review: not yet completed. No board-certified veterinary nutritionist has independently reviewed our formulas, feeding guidance or claims. We are actively pursuing that review. Until it is complete and the reviewer has approved in writing exactly what we may say, you will not see the words "vet approved", "veterinarian recommended" or a clinician's name anywhere on this site — because none of it would be true yet.
When that review happens, the reviewer's name, credentials, the scope of what they examined and the date will be published here.
Ingredients and sourcing
One named protein per formula. Human-grade ingredients — a legal standard meaning every ingredient is edible by a person and the facility is licensed to produce human food, not a marketing adjective. No soy, corn, wheat, GMOs or artificial additives.
Research
We have not conducted digestibility, palatability or feeding studies, and we have published nothing peer-reviewed. Saying so costs us nothing we were entitled to claim.
Our stated position on what nutrition can and cannot do is set out in full on what nutrition can and cannot do. The short version: nutrition is one of the few inputs you control, keeping a dog lean is strongly associated with better long-term outcomes, and no food prevents, treats or cures disease. Any brand telling you their food does is making a claim they are not permitted to make.
